Florida State issued a press release on Super Bowl Sunday stating that it will vacate 12 football victories from 2006 and 2007 as part of its punishment for an academic fraud scandal which took place during that period and involved 61 athletes across a multitude of sports.
Team records would technically indicate fewer wins, but not additional losses. Bobby Bowden's career coaching record officially changes from 389-129-4 (.749) to 377-129-4 (.743). His record at Florida State is altered from 316-97-4 (.763) to 304-97-4 (.755).
The 5 wins vacated from the 2006 season include a 44-27 Emerald Bowl victory over UCLA as well as its last four regular season victories that year over Rice, Duke, Virginia and Western Michigan. It keeps victories over state rival Miami and Troy in the first two weeks of the season.
All 7 wins from 2007 are also vacated.
Florida State finished 7-6 each season so its final records would be adjusted to 2-6 in 2006 and 0-6 in 2007.
Track and field, softball, baseball and basketball were among the other sports affected by the NCAA sanctions.

RE: Vacation of Records
On January 5, 2010, the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee upheld the March 2009 vacation of records penalty for Florida State University. The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions issued an infractions report that included findings of academic fraud affecting more than 61 student-athletes across 10 sports. The case included impermissible benefits, unethical conduct by three former academic support services staff members and a failure to monitor by the university. The involved sports were football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track, baseball, softball and men's golf.
In accordance with the final decision from the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee and Infractions Committee and pursuant to NCAA Bylaws 19.5.2.2-(e)-(2) and 31.2.2.3-(b), the institution will vacate all wins in which the 61 student-athletes in the sports of football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's track, baseball, softball and men's golf competed while ineligible during 2006-07 academic year and Fall of 2007. This includes regular season contests, post-season contests and any NCAA championship competition.
The Florida State University, in consultation with counsel, has reviewed the athletic records and academic data from the investigation to determine which competitions would be vacated. This final determination was based on student-athlete academic records and interviews compiled during the investigation. These academic records are not subject to public viewing since they are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). The NCAA has stated that it is the institution's obligation to determine which wins must be vacated. After careful review, the vacated wins and finishes for 2006-07 and Fall 2007 are as follows:

In regard to teams sports, the victories, where ineligible student-athletes participated, will be vacated and not be included in the season totals or overall records. In the sports that use individual scoring to determine place of finish in competitions, the points earned by ineligible student-athletes were removed and team totals were re-calculated and the place of finish will be adjusted to reflect the removal of those points.
In conclusion, all the vacated wins, finishes and records will be adjusted beginning with the 2010-11 media guides since all publications for the 2009-10 academic year have been produced, with the exception being Men's Baseball. Men's Baseball records will be adjusted in this season's 2010 media guide. All other athletic department records and information will be adjusted during the 2009-10 academic year to reflect the vacation of records. The NCAA, the ACC, the NIT and the Emerald Bowl will be notified of the vacated records for the appropriate sports and competitions. All championship trophies that have been vacated will be returned to the appropriate agency during the 2009-10 academic year.
