After a 4-13 season in 2024, the Las Vegas Raiders are in desperate need of becoming more competitive for titles or risk blowing the goodwill of the locals, while staving off the abandonment of a large national fan base.
For now, the indication from merchandise sales seems to indicate that certain teams remain solid brands, regardless of their on-field performance. At Lids, hats bearing the 49ers logo topped their list of sales, followed by the Raiders and the Cowboys.

General Manager: John Spytek (2025)
Head Coach: Pete Carroll (2025)
Offensive Coordinator: Chip Kelly (2025)
Defensive Coordinator: Patrick Graham (2022)
The Raiders experienced quite a shake-up in the offseason with the dismissals of GM Tom Telesco on January 9 after firing head coach Antonio Pierce on January 7. John Spytek was hired as Telesco's replacement on January 24 and Pete Carroll was named head coach the next day.
Spytek had been with Tampa Bay since 2016 and was promoted to Assistant GM in 2023.
Carroll, of course, 'retired' from his job as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks after the 2023 season but stayed on in an advisory role. He has a career record of 181-131-1 (.580), which includes a playoff mark of 11-11 and a Super Bowl win in XLVIII for Seattle when the Seahawks blasted Denver 43-8 to cap the 2013 season. They almost repeated in 2014, but came up short against New England.
Carroll has Seattle QB Geno Smith by his side after they traded for the veteran by dangling a third-round draft pick to Seattle.
Chip Kelly left his job at Ohio State to be named the offensive coordinator of the Raiders on February 4. Kelly spent one year assisting Ryan Day at Ohio State as his OC and quarterbacks coach in 2024 as the Buckeyes won the national championship.
Patrick Graham was held over from the previous staff to continue to serve as defensive coordinator.
The Raiders were 27th in total offensive last season, but had a passing game that ranked 13th while the running game was dead last at just 79.8 yards per game.
As bad as the offense was, it 's somewhat amazing that the defense managed to rank 15th over-all, 15th against the pass, and 13th vs. the run.
We're still a long way from the beginning of the 2025 season, but they are getting a little boost with their offseason moves as the Raiders over/under wins totals in 2025 is an improvement to 6.5.
As for the draft, the Raiders get the sixth over-all pick and mock drafts differ with Eric Edholm at NFL.com sending Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham to Sin City. Bryan DeArdo of CBSSports.com has Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty coming off the board to the Raiders. According to YahooSports' Nate Tice and Charles McDonald, the Raiders are going to wind up taking Armand Membou, the Missouri offensive tackle.
Running back Raheem Mostert moves west from Miami after the Raiders signed him on March 19. The former Purdue running back from New Smyrna Beach, Florida has 10 seasons under his belt after a 2015 debut season that saw him tied to the Eagles, Dolphins, Ravens and Browns as a kick return specialist.
Mostert's first stat entry as a ball carrier came in 2016 when he had 1 for 6 yards with San Francisco. In 2017, the number of carries rose to 6, and then 34 in 2018. In 2019, he started all 16 games while running for 772 yards and 8 scores.
He left San Fran for Miami in 2022 where he accumulated 2,181 yards rushing over three seasons and added 538 receiving. In 2022 with the Dolphins, Mostert was a runner with 891 yards, a receiver with 202 yards, and a kick returner with 502 yards. The next year, he stopped returning kicks and broke out 1,012 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns with 3 more receiving.
On defense, the Raiders signed six-year veteran Devin White from Houston on March 28 to strengthen the linebacker group.
