Weekly Preview For 10/28-10/30 - Michigan-Michigan State, Florida-Georgia Highlight Schedule

October 25, 2021 by Staff

A 53-game schedule kicks off with double-headers of non-noteworthy contests on Thursday and Friday, but heats up on Saturday when state rivals Michigan and Michigan State meet for the 114th time, and the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party precedes the 99th renewal of the Florida-Georgia border war in Jacksonville.

Michigan has a 71-37-5 record against Michigan State and the Wolverines have won 3 of the last four in East Lansing. However, Sparty has taken 9 of the last 13, and Michigan State is 3-3 vs. Jim Harbaugh. The sportsbooks have the Wolverines by 4 while the computer puts Big Blue's advantage at 5.60 with a trend line at 5.25.

Georgia leads Florida 52-44-2 in a rivalry that dates back to 1915 and has been uninterrupted since 1926. Last year, the Gators were 44-28 victors. the recent trend would seem to indicate that Florida should win two more before the 'Dawgs take over at australia online casino. That's because these teams swapped 3-game winning streaks from 2008-2019 and an upset win by the Gators this year would get them twp-thirds of the way to continue that strange phenomenon. Nonetheless, Georgia is a 14.5-point favorite. The Congrove Computer Rankings have Georgia by slightly less at 12.47 points, but the computer trend line indicates an advantage of 20.78 points for the Bulldogs.

Clemson-Florida State is another rivalry game that will take place on Saturday, though that game has lost its luster in recent years with the Tigers' rise to fortune coinciding with a major slide by the Seminoles. But this game should be competitive, even if it means next-to-nothing in the national picture. The oddsmakers still like Clemson by 9.5 and the computer pushes the margin to 11.80, but the computer trend line cuts the gap to 7.82. This rivalry only began in 1970 and Florida State absolutely owned Clemson through 2002 when the 'Noles won 14 of the first 16 meetings. Since then, the Tigers are 11-6 vs, FSU and are currently riding a 5-game winning streak.

There are 8 games this week in which the computer is going opposite on the straight-up play.

One of those is Texas at Baylor. The Longhorns lead the series 79-27-4 and have taken 5 of the last 6. The Bears are 2.5-point favorites, but the computer likes the Longhorns by 3.38.

Another computer opposite pick is Virginia by 5.35 at BYU (-2.5). This is the start of a third home-and-home series between the Cavaliers and Cougars, with BYU slated to travel to Charlottesville in 2023. The Wahoos have won 3 of the 5 previous encounters, while the home team is 3-1 in the series. The first meeting took place in the 1987 All-American Bowl in Birmingham, a game which was later moved to Tampa and eventually became the Outback Bowl.

Oregon State will be looking to keep pace with Oregon atop the PAC-12 North standings when the Beavers travel to Cal as a slim 1.5-point favorite in the sportsbooks, and an even thinner 0.84-point computer pick.

Meanwhile, Oregon is a 24-point home favorite over Colorado, though a much smaller 11.06-point pick by the computer.

Other games to watch:

- Notre Dame is a modest 3.5-point favorite at home against North Carolina, and a 4.26-point computer pick.

- Ohio State is a large 18.5-point favorite over visiting Penn State. The computer lowers the margin to 12.54.
