New seasons always sprout new beginnings and new chances. Six teams that missed the postseason last year – Denver (3-2) in the AFC and Minnesota (5-0), Washington (4-1), Atlanta (3-2), Chicago (3-2) and Seattle (3-2) in the NFC – have at least three wins this season, with all four NFC divisions having a team that missed the playoffs in 2023 currently sitting in first place or tied for first place as the NFL enters Week 6.
The 2024 NFC North – with Chicago, Detroit (3-1), Green Bay (3-2) and Minnesota – marks the sixth division since 2002 and the first since the 2012 NFC West to have all four teams each with three-or-more wins through the first five weeks of a season.
Drake Maye will start at QB for New England this week aginst Houston, while Spencer Rattler will get the start for the New Orleans Saints.
Here’s a look at a few more interesting storylines entering Week 6
Narrow games continue. More games through Week 5 this season have been decided by seven-or-fewer points (47) and six-or-fewer points (41) than any previous season in NFL history. Last week, six games were decided by a game-winning score in the final two minutes of regulation or in overtime, the most in a week since Week 16, 2023 (six games).
The Atlanta Falcons – with a Kirk Cousins-to-Drake London touchdown pass with 34 seconds remaining in Week 2, a Younghoe Koo 58-yard field goal with two seconds left in Week 4 and a Cousins-to-KhaDarel Hodge touchdown pass in overtime in Week 5 – became the first team since the 2009 Cincinnati Bengals to score the game-winning points in the final minute of regulation or in overtime in three of its first five games of a season.
Both Atlanta and the Houston Texans have won consecutive games by scoring the game-winning points in the final minute of regulation or in overtime. The last team to win three such consecutive games was the 2020 Los Angeles Chargers (Weeks 14-16).
A historic matchup between elite rushing teams is set to take place in Week 6 as the Washington Commanders (4-1) visit the Baltimore Ravens (3-2) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Baltimore, with 211.2 rushing yards per game, and Washington, 178.4 rushing yards per game, rank first and second, respectively, in rushing offense this season. On Sunday, it will mark the first meeting between two teams each averaging 175-or-more rushing yards per game in Week 6 or later of a season in 46 years, since Week 6 of the 1978 season [New England (188.8 rushing yards per game) vs. Philadelphia (186 rushing yards per game)].
The Ravens lead the league with 1,056 rushing yards and can become the fifth team since 1980 with at least 1,200 rushing yards in its first six games of a season, joining the 2006 Atlanta Falcons (1,333), 1984 Chicago Bears (1,330), 1980 Detroit Lions (1,299) and 2019 Baltimore Ravens (1,230). Baltimore has rushed for at least 100 yards in 38 consecutive games, tied with the 1935-39 Detroit Lions (38 consecutive games) for the third-longest such streak by a team in NFL history. Only the 2018-21 Baltimore Ravens (43 consecutive games) and 1974-77 Pittsburgh Steelers (43) have longer such streaks.
Washington leads the NFL with 13 rushing touchdowns while Baltimore ranks tied for third with eight rushing touchdowns. The combined 21 rushing touchdowns rank as the second-most in a matchup for a Week 6 game since 1970, trailing the 24 combined rushing touchdowns between Miami (13) and Buffalo (11) in Week 6 of the 1975 season.
Washington can become the fourth team with 14-or-more rushing touchdowns in its first six games of a season since 1970, joining the 1975 Miami Dolphins (16 rushing touchdowns), 2023 Miami Dolphins (15) and 2004 Kansas City Chiefs (14). With Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (241.2 passing yards per game and 72.6 rushing yards per game in 2024) and Washington’s Jayden Daniels (227 passing yards per game and 60 rushing yards per game in 2024), this will mark the first matchup of opposing quarterbacks in Week 6 or later who are both averaging at least 200 passing yards per game and 50 rushing yards per game.
Between Washington’s Jayden Daniels (four wins), Denver’s Bo Nix (three) and Chicago’s Caleb Williams (three), rookie quarterbacks have combined for 10 wins this season, the second-most by rookie quarterbacks in the first five weeks of a season since 1970, trailing only 1987 (12 wins). Daniels became the third rookie quarterback since 1950 to start and win four of his team’s first five games of a season, joining Joe Ferguson (1973 with Buffalo) and Dak Prescott (2016 with Dallas).
Nix is the first rookie quarterback to win three consecutive games in Broncos franchise history.
Williams became the fourth rookie quarterback since 1950 to win each of his first three home starts and throw no interceptions in each game, joining Matt Ryan (2008), Tua Tagovailoa (2020) and Russell Wilson (2012).
The NFL international schedule continues in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the second-consecutive week, as the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) face the Chicago Bears (3-2) on Sunday (9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network). The Jaguars will stay in London and take on New England in Week 7, playing two regular-season games outside of the United States for the second-consecutive season. With the Jaguars earning their first win of the season in Week 5, 2024 marks the fourth season since 1970 in which every team has at least one win through the first five weeks, joining 2022, 2018 and 1990.
Sunday will mark the 10th NFL regular-season game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since 2019. Eight of the first nine contests have been decided by one score (eight points or fewer). Last season, Jacksonville became the first team ever to win multiple international games in a season. The Jaguars have six wins in international games, the most among all clubs. The Bears competed in the first regular-season game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against the Oakland Raiders on Oct. 6, 2019, and have a 2-1 record in international contests, earning wins at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, in 2010 and Wembley Stadium in London in 2011.
The New York Giants (2-3) lead the NFL with 22 sacks through Week 5, while the Denver Broncos (3-2) lead the AFC and rank third in the NFL with 19 sacks. The Giants, who host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-4) on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC), had eight sacks in Week 3 and seven sacks in Week 5, becoming the first team since the 2006 Philadelphia Eagles to record seven-or-more sacks in two of their first five games of a season. The last team to record at least seven sacks in three of its first six games of a season was the 1989 Minnesota Vikings.
The Broncos host the Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) on Sunday (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS) in a matchup of two top scoring defenses. The Chargers lead the NFL in scoring defense (12.5 points allowed per game) while the Broncos are tied for second (14.6) through the first five weeks. The last time two clubs met in Week 6 or later of a season that were both allowing fewer than 15 points per game was Week 6 of the 2013 season [New England (14.0 points allowed per game vs. New Orleans (14.6)].
Two quarterbacks – Atlanta’s Kirk Cousins and Detroit’s Jared Goff – are looking to follow up exceptional performances. In Week 5, Cousins had a Falcons single-game franchise-record 509 passing yards, the 24th game in NFL history of 500-or-more passing yards. Of the previous 23, nine players passed for 300-or-more yards in their next game and two players – Joe Burrow (446 passing yards on Jan. 2, 2022) and Tom Brady (423 on Sept. 18, 2011) passed for more than 400 yards.
In Week 4, Goff became the first player in NFL history with a 100 percent completion percentage on 15-or-more attempts, going 18-for-18 in the Lions’ win over Seattle. Including his final pass attempt in Week 3, he has completed 19 consecutive pass attempts. The NFL record for the most consecutive completions is 25, held by four players: Nick Foles (2018), Marcus Mariota (2018), Philip Rivers (2018) and Ryan Tannehill (2015).
When Cincinnati (1-4) visits the New York Giants (2-3) on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC), former LSU Tigers Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Malik Nabers will be in the spotlight. Burrow recorded a career-high five touchdown passes in Week 5, including touchdown passes of 41- and 70-yards to Chase. Burrow (27 years old) and Chase (24 years old) have connected for 14 touchdowns of 40-or-more yards, the second-most by a quarterback-wide receiver duo both under the age of 28 in NFL history, trailing only John Hadl and Pro Football Hall of Famer Lance Alworth (20 touchdowns).
Burrow has 23 touchdown passes of 40-or-more yards since entering the NFL in 2020, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner (22 touchdown passes) for the third-most such touchdown passes by a player in his first five seasons among quarterbacks whose career began after 1990. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (28 touchdown passes) and Patrick Mahomes (26) have more.
Chase has 10 touchdown receptions of 60-or-more yards, becoming the third player with 10-or-more touchdown receptions of 60-or-more yards in his first four seasons in NFL history, joining Homer Jones (12 touchdowns) and Harlon Hill (10).
Nabers, who missed the Giants’ Week 5 win due to injury, has 35 receptions in four career games, with at least five catches in each game. On Sunday night, he can join Puka Nacua (46 receptions) as the only players with at least 40 receptions in their first five career games in NFL history and become the fourth player in NFL history with at least five receptions in each of his first five career games, joining CeeDee Lamb (first six games), Terry Glenn (first five) and Nacua (first five).

The NFL remains the same. One month into the 2024 season, the competition has never been tighter, as more games have been decided by eight points (39), seven points (38) and six points (32) at this point of the season than any other. One team in each conference – the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC and the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC – remain undefeated as the NFL resumes its international slate with one game in London in each of the next three weeks.
Following the first-ever regular season NFL game in Brazil in Week 1, the NFL international schedule continues in London with one game in each of the next three weeks, beginning with the New York Jets (2-2) and Minnesota Vikings (4-0) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network).
The Vikings are No. 5 in the NFL Power Rankings at FanDuel.com, and No. 2 in the NFL Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com.
Since 2019, the NFL has played eight games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, seven of which were decided by eight points or fewer. The Vikings, with a 3-0 record in their first three London games, are one of four teams with multiple wins and no losses in regular-season international contests, along with Kansas City (3-0), the New York Giants (3-0) and Philadelphia (2-0).
The Minnesota Vikings, the only remaining undefeated team in the NFC, are 4-0 for the first time since 2016 and can advance to 5-0 for the fifth time since 2000. The Vikings are the second team since 2007 to have multiple wins and zero losses heading into an international game, joining the 2017 Baltimore Ravens (2-0). Quarterback Sam Darnold leads the NFL in touchdown passes (11) and passer rating (118.9), and became the sixth different quarterback to record at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 105-or-higher in each of his team’s first four games of a season, joining Tom Brady (2007 and 2015), Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (2013), Aaron Rodgers (2011 and 2020), Matt Ryan (2016) and Russell Wilson (2020).
Wide receiver Justin Jefferson is the only player in the NFL with a touchdown reception in each of the first four weeks and became the fifth player since 2000 with at least 50 receiving yards and a touchdown reception in each of his team’s first four games of a season, joining Antonio Gates (2010) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (2007) as well as Pro Football Hall of Famers Randy Moss (2007) and Terrell Owens (2004).
The Kansas City Chiefs, the last undefeated team in the AFC, can advance to 5-0 for the fifth time in franchise history (2003, 2013, 2017 and 2018) with a win over New Orleans (2-2) on Monday night (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Chiefs overcame a 10-point deficit in Week 4 to win. Since 2018, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have recorded 18 wins, including the postseason, in which they overcame a deficit of 10-or-more points to win, the most in the NFL during that span. Mahomes’ 18 such wins are the most by a quarterback in his first eight seasons in NFL history, ahead of Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Kelly (15 comeback wins) and Dan Marino (15) as well as Ryan Tannehill (15).
Kansas City became the first team since 2000 (both the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams) to win each of their first four games despite not scoring first in each game. Kansas City can become the first reigning Super Bowl champions to begin 5-0 since 2019 (New England) and 10th team in the Super Bowl era to win each of their first five games the season after winning the Super Bowl. Mahomes has 69 career games with at least two touchdown passes and can become the fourth quarterback in NFL history with 70 such games in his first eight seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning (74 games) and Dan Marino (72) as well as Russell Wilson (72).
The Washington Commanders (3-1), with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, have won three consecutive games and are looking for their first four-game winning streak since the 2021 season against Cleveland (1-3) this Sunday (1 p.m. ET, FOX). Over the past two weeks, the Commanders became the third team in the past 35 seasons to score five-or-more offensive touchdowns (passing and rushing combined) in consecutive games with a rookie starting quarterback, joining the 2012 Seattle Seahawks (Weeks 14-16 with Russell Wilson) and 2017 Houston Texans (Weeks 4-5 with Deshaun Watson).
Daniels can become the third rookie quarterback since 1950 to start and win four of his team’s first five games of a season, joining Joe Ferguson (1973 with Buffalo) and Dak Prescott (2016 with Dallas). Daniels leads the NFL with an 82.1 completion percentage (87 of 106) this season, surpassing Tom Brady (79.2 percent, 95 of 120, in 2007 with New England) for the highest completion percentage (minimum 75 attempts) by a player in his team’s first four games of a season in NFL history.
Daniels, with a single-game rookie-record 91.3 completion percentage in Week 3 and an 86.7 completion percentage in Week 4, became the first player in NFL history with a completion percentage of 85-or-higher in consecutive games (minimum 15 attempts in each game). In addition to his proficiency through the air, Daniels has also established himself as a dynamic runner, becoming the second quarterback (Robert Griffin III) with at least 200 rushing yards in his first four career games and is one of four quarterbacks (Griffin III, Cam Newton and Anthony Richardson) with four rushing touchdowns in his first four career games.
The Baltimore Ravens (2-2) enter their Week 5 matchup at Cincinnati (1-3) (1 p.m. ET, CBS) with the top rushing offense (220.3 yards per game) and top rushing defense (57.8 yards per game allowed) in the NFL, becoming the first team to lead the league in rushing offense and rushing defense through Week 4 since the 1988 Chicago Bears. With running back Derrick Henry (480 rushing yards, most in the NFL this season) and quarterback Lamar Jackson (308, ninth-most) each ranking in the top 10 in rushing yards this season, the Ravens have totaled 881 rushing yards, trailing only the 2006 Atlanta Falcons (937 rushing yards) for the most by a team in its first four games of a season since 1990.
Last week, Henry recorded his seventh career game with at least 195 rushing yards, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson and Adrian Peterson for the most such games in NFL history. Henry is the only AFC player with a rushing touchdown in each of the first four weeks and with a rushing touchdown in Week 5, would become the first non-rookie and fourth player overall in NFL history to record a rushing touchdown in each of his first five games with a team, joining Alan Ameche (with the Baltimore Colts in 1955), Joe Cribbs (with Buffalo in 1980) and Robert Edwards (with New England in 1998). Jackson has 5,566 career rushing yards and can surpass Cam Newton (5,628 rushing yards) for the second-most by a quarterback in NFL history. Only Michael Vick (6,109 rushing yards) has more.
Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson are at +2000 to combine for 150 or more rushing yards in the first half.
The only matchup to occur in three different Super Bowls, the Dallas Cowboys (2-2) visit the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). The Steelers won the first two Super Bowl matchups (X and XIII) while the Cowboys earned a Super Bowl XXX victory over Pittsburgh. Since 1970, Dallas (106 wins) and Pittsburgh (98) have the most wins in primetime games (start time after 7 p.m. ET) among all teams. Entering Week 5, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who has a .703 winning percentage (26-11) in primetime, is one of four quarterbacks with a winning percentage of .700-or-higher in primetime starts since 1970 (minimum 25 starts), along with Pro Football Hall of Famers Steve Young (.767, 23-7), Joe Montana (.733, 22-8) and Peyton Manning (.723, 47-18). Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (.697, 23-10) can join this group with a win on Monday Night Football.

There have been 30 games decided by one score (eight points or fewer) in 2024, the most such games through Week 3 in NFL history. Five teams are undefeated, and 29 teams have at least one win this season. Since realignment in 2002, only two prior seasons (2012 and 2022) had more teams register a win in the first three weeks of a season.
There are only two winless teams, Jacksonville and Tennessee, and both reside in the AFC South.
Jacksonville will try to get off the snide and simultaneously snag a divisional win when the Jags visit Houston as a 6.5-point underdog in most sportsbooks. The Texans are a 3.09-point computer pick.
Tennessee will be in Miami on Monday night where the Dolphins have to go with either Tim Boyle or Tyler "Snoop" Huntley at QB after Skylar Thompson injured his ribs in last week's start. Tua Tagovailoa is on the IR after a concussion in week two.
Last night, Dallas improved to 2-2 with a 20-15 win at the NY Giants (1-3) as yet another one-score game kicked off week four. The game saw Dallas' Micah Parsons (ankle) and the Giants' Malik Nabers (concussion) head to the locker room with injuries in back-to-back plays.
It all started with 3:30 to go in the game. First came Parson's injury when he got rolled from behind by the Giant's OG, Greg Van Roten. Parsons had left earlier in the game for concussion concerns but was cleared to return. Next, Nabers was trying to haul in a 4th-down catch on his own sideline when he fell hard. Nabers had a second straight 100-yard, 10-catch night by hauling in 12 for 115. He entered the night with 23 receptions for 271 yards and 3 scores to become the first in the NFL to ever record 20+ catches and 3+ TD receptions in his first three games in the league.
Last night's clash was the 11th time in the past 12 seasons that the Cowboys and Giants met in a primetime game. Dak Prescott became the fourth quarterback to register 13 consecutive wins against one opponent, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Bob Griese (17 straight vs. Bills, 1968-79), Steve Young (13 vs the LA/St. Louis Rams, 1987-98) and Tom Brady (13 vs. Bills, 2003-10).
The remaining five undefeated teams comprise the top five in the NFL Congrove Computer Rankings of all 32 teams. Buffalo sits at No. 1, followed in order by Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Minnesota .
All five hit the road this weekend.
The Vikings can begin 4-0 for the first time since 2016 and the fifth time since 2000. Last week, Minnesota became the third team since 1990 with at least five sacks in each of their first three games, joining the 2001 New Orleans Saints and 2000 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No team in NFL history has five-or-more sacks in each of their first four games of a season. The Vikings lead the NFL with 16 sacks this season and can become the third team since 2000 with at least 20 sacks in their first four games of a season, joining the 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers (20 sacks) and 2001 Green Bay Packers (20).
Minnesota running back Aaron Jones spent his first seven NFL seasons (2017-23) with Green Bay and including the postseason, totaled 8,729 scrimmage yards (6,451 rushing, 2,278 receiving) and 71 touchdowns (52 rushing, 19 receiving) in 104 games. With his next receiving touchdown, Jones can become the fourth player since 1990 with at least 45 rushing touchdowns and 20 receiving touchdowns in his first eight seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey.
Entering Week 4, Green Bay leads the NFL with 612 rushing yards (204 per game) and are one of six teams since 1990 (along with the 2024 Baltimore Ravens) to record at least 600 rushing yards in their first three games of a season. Minnesota enters the contest with the top run defense in the NFC, having allowed 71.3 rushing yards per game through the first three weeks.
Two offseason acquisitions – Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel and Packers safety Xavier McKinney – have made immediate impacts for their new teams. Van Ginkel can become the first non-rookie since 2019 (Shaquil Barrett and Clay Matthews) to record a sack in each of his first four games with a team. McKinney can become the fourth player since 2000 with an interception in each of his team’s first four games of a season, joining Trevon Diggs (2021 with Dallas), Devin McCourty (2019 with New England) and Brian Russell (2003 with Minnesota).
The Steelers look to win each of their first four games for the second time under head coach Mike Tomlin (2020) and the fifth time in franchise history. Pittsburgh is one of five teams since 2000 to win each of their first three games and allow 10-or-fewer points in each win, joining the 2009 Denver Broncos, 2005 Indianapolis Colts, 2004 Seattle Seahawks and 2001 Green Bay Packers.
Pittsburgh linebacker T.J. Watt, who has 99.5 sacks in 107 games played, can surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware (113 games) as the second-fastest player to reach 100 career sacks since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White (96 games) reached the milestone in fewer games.
Watt, who turns 30 years old on Oct. 11, can also become the third player since 1982 with 100 career sacks prior to his 30th birthday, joining White (108) and Jared Allen (105).
The Chiefs can start 4-0 for the first time since 2020 and the sixth time under head coach Andy Reid. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is slated to make his 100th-career regular-season start in Week 4, and already holds the NFL records for most wins (77), passing yards (29,083), passing touchdowns (224) and completions (2,450) by a quarterback in his first 100 career regular-season starts in NFL history.
The Bills can start their season with four consecutive wins for the third time since 1993 (2008 and 2020). Both first round selections in the 2018 NFL Draft, Buffalo’s Josh Allen (No. 7 overall) and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (No. 32) have proven to be two of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history in terms of finding success with both their arms and their legs. Allen ranks second in NFL history among quarterback with 55 rushing touchdowns, trailing only Cam Newton (75). Allen has 229 combined passing and rushing touchdowns (174 passing, 55 rushing), the second-most by a quarterback in his first seven seasons in NFL history, trailing only Patrick Mahomes (231).
Jackson ranks third in NFL history among quarterbacks with 5,512 rushing yards, trailing only Michael Vick (6,109) and Cam Newton (5,628), and holds the NFL records among quarterbacks for the most games with 50 rushing yards (56), 75 rushing yards (31) and 100 rushing yards (14). Jackson has 11 career games with a passer rating of 135-or-higher (minimum 15 attempts per game), the most by a player in his first seven seasons in NFL history.
Baltimore running back Derrick Henry totaled 174 scrimmage yards (151 rushing, 23 receiving) and two rushing touchdowns in the Ravens’ Week 3 win. Henry has 12 career games with at least 150 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson (12 games) for the second-most such games in NFL history. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown (13 games) has more.
Henry (281 rushing yards) and Jackson (254) are the first pair of teammates each with at least 250 rushing yards in their team’s first three games of a season since 1976 [The Los Angeles Rams’ John Cappelletti (315 rushing yards) and Lawrence McCutcheon (298)]. The last pair of teammates each with 300 rushing yards in their team’s first four games of a season were Warrick Dunn (365 rushing yards) and Michael Vick (333) with the 2006 Atlanta Falcons.
The Seahawks can begin 4-0 for the third time in franchise history (2013 and 2020) as head coach Mike Macdonald can become the second head coach (Josh McDaniels, with Denver in 2009) under the age of 40 to win each of his first four games since 1933.
Seattle and Detroit are set to meet for the fourth-consecutive season. The teams have combined for at least 60 points in each of the three previous meetings for a total of 241 points. The most recent occurrences of two teams combining for 60-or-more points in four consecutive games were New Orleans and Washington from 2009-18 (five straight games), and Indianapolis and New England from 2012-18 (four).
Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith and Lions quarterback Jared Goff have each passed for at least 300 yards in the previous two meetings. Smith and Goff can become the third pair of opposing quarterbacks to each pass for at least 300 yards in three consecutive meetings in NFL history, joining Tom Brady and Ryan Fitzpatrick (2011-12), and Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers (2011-14).
