Week 13 Super 16 Poll: Washington and FSU Up To 3rd and 4th, Buckeyes Down to 6th

Georgia picked up 43 of 56 first-place votes in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll. The Bulldogs remained No. 1 for the 23rd week in-a-row dating back to Oct. 9, 2022 after defeating Georgia Tech 31-23 on the road.

The poll is administered by the FWAA (Football Writers Association) and the National Football Foundation, and features a geographical mix 56 FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers. CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove has been a member of the panel since since week 4 of the 2017 season.

Michigan received an additional 10 first-place votes compared to last week and remained No. 2 for the eighth week after defeating Ohio State 30-24 at home. Ohio State fell three spots to No. 6 by virtue of the loss to the Wolverines.

Washington advanced one spot to No. 3 after its three-point victory at home against Washington State, marking the highest ranking for the Huskies in the history of the poll.

Louisville fell six spots to No. 15 after its seven-point loss at home to Kentucky. No. 9 Missouri rose to its highest ranking in the history of the poll after defeating Arkansas 48-14 on the road.

Oregon State dropped out of the poll completely after suffering a 24-point loss at Oregon. Iowa landed at No. 16, joining the poll for the first time since claiming the No. 16 ranking on Dec. 5, 2021.

The SEC led all conferences with five teams, followed by the Big Ten with four and the Pac-12 with three. The Big 12 and ACC each placed two teams in the poll.

An SEC team has been ranked (1 in the poll each week, dating back to September 29, 2019, a span of 55 poll weeks.

Congrove Ballot

CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove Ballot had significant change from the prior week with Michigan moving head of Georgia at No. 1, while Florida State and Washington jumped Ohio State to take 3rd and 4th, resectively. He moved the Buckeys down from 3rd to 5th. The rest of his poll is (6) Oregon, (7) Texas, (8) Alabama, (9) Missouri, (10) Penn State, (11) Ole Miss, (12) Oklahoma), (13) Louisville), (14) LSU, (15), Arizona, and (16) Notre Dame.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL: The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by two long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2023 season. The individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, September 5 to account for Labor Day weekend games which run through Monday, September 4. The final poll will be released on Sunday, December 3. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
