November 8, 2020 by Staff

Several streaks are over and one continues with No. 4 (AP Poll) Notre Dame's thrilling 47-40 double-overtime win at home over No. 1 Clemson on Saturday night. Fans stormed the field after the Irish scored a touchdown in the top of the 2nd extra period and then held Clemson on four downs to clinch the victory. Notre Dame's winning streak continues at 13 games while the Tigers had their streaks of 35 regular season wins, 29 ACC wins, and 14 road wins come to a halt. The Irish forced overtime when Ian Book connected with Avery Davis for a 4-yard TD with 22 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 33-apiece. The teams traded touchdowns in the 1st overtime, but Kyren Williams' 3-yard run in the second extra period proved to be the game-winner. Clemson was a 5.5-point Vegas favorite, but a narrow 1.62-point computer pick.

With roughly 9,000 fans in Jacksonville for each side, Florida topped Georgia in the annual border war on Saturday. The 44-28 victory ended a 3-game losing streak in the series for the Gators behind a 30-of-43, 474-yard performance from Kyle Trask who threw TD passes to 4 different players. Florida outgained the Bulldogs 571 yards to 277 and overcame an early 14-0 hole by scoring 41 of the games' next 48 points. Two plays earlier, Barbir had a 59-yarder blocked and returned for what appeared to a game-winning TD for Virginia Tech, but head coach Justin Fuente called his last timeout just as the ball was snapped to nullify the play. Fuente now has losses to Old Dominion and Liberty in the last 22 games. That 2018 ODU team finished the season 4-8, while this Liberty team is now 7-0. The Hokies fell to 4-3.

The Trojans trailed 27-14, but cut the gap to 6 on Bru McCoy's 26-yard catch off a deflected pass from Kedon Slovis with 2:52 to go.
