Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs Tulane Green Wave preview (11/05/22)

October 31, 2022 by Staff

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane squad have had a fairly lackluster start to this year's campaign. After winning 2 of 4 home games and finding themselves towards the bottom half of the table, they will want to put on a strong performance at home to try and kickstart the backend of their season.

The Tulane Green Wave, in contrast, have had a seriously good start to the season and will be looking to get another win under their belt. We expect they will have enough to take victory, despite traveling to Tulsa for this one. The Tulane Green Wave are already making a serious and concerted claim for the title. Even though the season still has several surprises and turns, like always, Tulane look like the full package and have won every game of their first four this season.

This is reflected in the odds for this game, with Tulane Green Wave the favorites over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. If you'd like to find out more college football betting odds online, there are plenty of markets that aren't just on the winners but on individual games and players. We will look at what each team does well and try to break down where we think the game might be won or lost.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-5 over-all, 1-3 AAC, 2-2 Home)

As we mentioned in the introduction, Tulsa Golden Hurricane haven't had the most sensational beginning to their season. They will be looking to make a statement against one of the league's best teams and try and kickstart their season before it ends up in a mediocre campaign.

Their quarterback Davis Brin is one of the positives of Tulsa's team this campaign. He has already chalked up four touchdowns this season and nearly 2,000 passing yards in the opening few games of the year. Keylon Stokes has also looked like a solid operator for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane – he has notched up 802 receiving yards and looks set on having a season that will put him on the radar of some of the big franchises in the NFL.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane could perform better than many expect if these two players are on form. They may still fall short of a win but they could put themselves in a good position. If they can get on the offensive early and open the scoring, they could pose a few issues for Tulane Green Wave.

Tulane Green Wave (7-1 over-all, 4-0 AAC, 3-0 Away)

That being said, Tulane Green Wave looks like one of the strongest college football teams we have seen for a few years. Not only do they have strength and quality, but they also have depth in their squad. They are making their way up the overall rankings due to this incredible start to the campaign.

However, they will not want to let complacency set in and won't want to take their foot off the gas after firing on all cylinders so impressively in the season's opening month.

Their star man so far this season has been Michael Pratt. The impressive quarterback has already chalked up several high-quality displays this season, including a 44-yard touchdown throw against East Carolina and a touchdown against Kansas State. He is another player who is earmarked for big things and it will be surprising if we don’t see Pratt plying his trade at the top levels of the NFL in the next few years.

Conclusion and prediction

You may have already guessed which way we're heading for this one, but we're going to say it anyway. We see no result other than Tulane Green Wave travelling to Tulsa and coming away with the win. We don't want to be too harsh on Tulsa Golden Hurricane but it looks like they may have stalled at the beginning of the season, even though they have many better players than their league position suggests.

However, the Tulane Green Wave will be the team to beat this season, we imagine. Suppose Tulane Green Wave can continue this mean streak of form – in that case, they could find themselves sitting comfortably in pole position for most of the season and ending the season as the top team in the division.

One thing we love about college football is its ability to surprise and shock us in equal measure. It's unlikely that Tulsa Golden Hurricane will raise their game enough to beat the Tulane Green Wave. Still, if they did, it wouldn't be the biggest shock we have seen in college football in recent years, would it?
