The Philadelphia Eagles: No Stranger to Success

February 11, 2025 by Staff

The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs went head to head on 9th February in the Super Bowl LIX - and it was a match that everyone was looking forward to. The Chiefs have always been a team to watch - and, as the defending champions, were topping the NFL betting odds to win. It was expected to be a high-scoring one - with sportsbooks giving them an over-under of 48.5. This was definitely a game that promised serious action.

But no one would have written the Philadelphia Eagles off. This is also a team that knows how to win games… and is a team that has become famous for resilience, strategic brilliance, and just a pure commitment to excellence. And this was evident as they tore the defending champions apart, with a very convincing win of 40 - 22. They dominated the game totally… and although the Chiefs did try to fight back in the fourth quarter, it was just too little, too late.

They were established back in 1933 and since then, this renowned franchise has now evolved into one of the most formidable teams in the NFL - and has racked up several championship titles and, along with that, a very loyal and dedicated fan base.

They have enjoyed a journey to success that stands testament to their spirit, adaptability and sheer hard work and determination.

Starting Out on the Road To Success

The team was pretty quick off the starting block in terms of success. Although they were only established in the early 1930s, by the late 1940s they were right up there - winners. The team, under the guidance of head coach Greasy Neale and backed up by the undeniable talent of running back Steve Van Buren, became the ones to beat after they managed to win back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and then again in 1949. These were indicative of what was to come - and laid the foundation for their impressive future.

Challenges and Rebuilding

However, after periods of success, there is always the need for teams to rebuild - which can pose serious challenges to their competitiveness. This was true for the Eagles - and in the subsequent decades, they faced several challenges, including changes to the coaching squad and hit-and-miss performances. That being said, the team strode on, remained steadfast, and always took the various opportunities to rebuild and strengthen their roster - and get back to winning ways!

The Modern Era - A Super Bowl Winning Team

They may have dropped off the radar for a while in terms of big competition wins, but in the early 2000s the Eagles started to take flight again - and in 2017, managed to lift the Super Bowl LII trophy for the first time after defeating the New England Patriots. This was a huge moment in the team’s history - and one they’d be looking to replicate.

And this has now happened - In 2025, with the Eagles managing to secure their second Super Bowl title with a commanding (and for some, very unexpected) 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Not only was this a game that showed off how physically dominant the team was - but it also showed off head coach Nick Sirianni and his strategic acumen. It was also a pretty historic moment for the Aussies… thanks to Jordan Mailata, who became the first-ever Australian to play in - and win - the Super Bowl.

The Secret to the Eagles' Success

So, what are the secrets behind the team’s current winning formula?

  1. Strategic Leadership: We have to mention head coach, Nick Sirianni, and his impressive and strategic leadership that has played a huge part in the team's recent success. He has an ability to inspire and motivate his players - and this has been key to their success.
  2. Development and Acquisition of Players: The Eagles have also shown that they’ve got quite the keen eye for talent, both in the draft and through various strategic acquisitions. Players, such as the quarterback Jalen Hurts, have become massively important in the team’s winning ways.
  3. Resilient and Adaptable: The Eagles have always shown that they have the ability to overcome any adversity, adapt to whatever challenges arise - and stay competitive!

Some might have been surprised by the outcome of the 2025 Super Bowl, but the Eagles have always proven to be a team that should never be written off.
