Texas picked up 47 of 54 first-place votes and moved up to No. 1 by virtue of Alabama's loss at Vanderbilt in Week 6. An SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in the Super 16 Poll 62 of the last 63 weeks, dating back to Sept. 29, 2019. Alabama fell six slots to No. 7 after its five-point loss to the Commodores.

Voters in the poll consist of FWAA writers and members of the College Football Hall of Fame who were selected to create a geographically balanced perspective. CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove has been on the voting panel since the September 24, 2017 poll.

Oregon climbed three spots to No. 3 after defeating Michigan State 31-10, marking the highest ranking for the Ducks since a No. 3 appearance on Nov. 14, 2021.

Tennessee fell four places to No. 8 after suffering a five-point road loss at Arkansas.

Miami (FL) advanced two rungs to the No. 6 spot after defeating Cal 39-38. The Hurricanes' No. 6 ranking is their highest since a No. 2 ranking on Nov. 19, 2017.

Iowa State jumped four spots to No. 12 after defeating Baylor 43-21, marking the highest ranking for the Cyclones since claiming the No. 9 ranking on Sept. 7, 2021.

USC, Michigan and Missouri fell out of the poll after suffering defeats in Week 6. BYU, Texas A&M and Indiana joined the poll this week, claiming Nos. 14, 15 and 16 respectively. The No. 16 ranking for Indiana marks their first ever appearance in the Super 16 Poll.
