For the first time this season, Clemson actually loses some No. 1 votes in the new FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll released today. The poll is voted on by a panel of football writers and college football Hall Of Fame members.
The top eight teams remain unchanged, other than LSU and Georgia switching places at 3 and 4 with the Bulldogs taking 3rd.
Alabama takes 4 of the 38 first-place votes that Clemson received a week ago. LSU keeps its 3 first-place votes and Georgia retains its lone one.
The Southeastern Conference holds slots 2-4 for a second straight week. Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Auburn follow in the same order as last week in spots 5-8.
In fact, 15 of the 16 teams return to the rankings with only UCF moving into the poll for the first time this season at No. 15. Texas A&M falls out of the poll, despite rolling over FCS member Lamar 62-3..
The SEC leads all conferences with five teams in the ranking. The Big Ten follow with four while the Big 12 and Pac-12 have two apiece. The ACC, American Conference and Independents each have one.

The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2019 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
