Playoff Rankings: Top 5 Unchanged

November 15, 2022 by CollegeFootballPlayoff.com and CollgeFootballPoll.com

The third weekly rankings by the College Football Playoff Committee were released Tuesday night and the top five remain unchanged. No. 6 Oregon, which lost at home to Washington, slipped to 12 while Huskies catapulted from 25th to 17th.

No. 11 Ole Miss lost to Alabama and dropped to 14, and No. 12 UCLA was upset at home by Arizona and plummeted to 16.

NC State, which was 16th in last week's poll, somehow avoided falling completely out after a home loss to Boston College. The Wolfpack are No. 24 this week.

UCF's win at Tulane gave the Knights a 2-spot bump up No. 20 while the Green Wave dropped 4 places to No. 21.  Another American Conference team, Cincinnati, entered at No. 25.

Last week's 18th-ranked Texas, 21st-ranked Illinois and 24th-ranked Kentucky all suffered upset losses at home and fell out of the poll. The Longhorns lost to TCU, Illinois fell to Purdue and, most shockingly, Kentucky helped Vanderbilt end a 26-game SEC losing streak.

The College Football Playoff matches the No. 1 ranked team vs. No. 4, and No. 2 vs. No. 3 in semifinal games that rotate annually among six bowl games – the Cotton, Fiesta, Peach, Orange Bowl, Sugar and Rose. This season's Playoff Semifinals will take place Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Peach and Fiesta Bowls. The College Football Playoff National Championship will be Monday, January 9, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
