Playoff Committee Rankings: Top 7 Unchanged, Cincinnati Drops Behind Memphis

The top 7 teams remain the same as last week in the latest College Football Playoff Committee Rankings released Tuesday night. LSU continues to hold the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia.

Minnesota only dropped 2 spots, from 8th to 10th, after its first loss of the season. The Golden Gophers fell 23-19 at Iowa which is now ranked 17th.

Baylor took even less of a hit on the heels of a 34-31 home loss to Oklahoma in which the Sooners overcame a 28-3 deficit. The Bears merely backed up one position from 13th to 14th.

Memphis stayed at No. 18 while Cincinnati slipped from 17th to 19th, giving the Tigers the post position In the race among Group of Five teams for the guaranteed New Year's Six bowl bid to the Cotton Bowl.

Auburn fell from 12th to 15th after losing 21-14 at home to Georgia.

The committee removed Texas, Kansas State and Navy from the top 25 and replaced them with Iowa State (22), USC (23) and SMU (25).

The College Football Playoff matches the No. 1 ranked team vs. No. 4, and No. 2 vs. No. 3 in semifinal games that rotate annually among six bowl games – the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Capital One Orange Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual. This season's Playoff Semifinals will take place Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The College Football Playoff National Championship will be Monday, January 13, 2020, at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
