Packers look for more in 2025 after Wild Card round exit in 2024

The Green Bay Packers were 31-25 winners over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV (45) which took place in Arlington, Texas on February 6, 2010. Green Bay's fourth Super Bowl win (4-1) was only the second loss for Pittsburgh (6-2). Given their history, it's a bit surprising that neither team has made another appearance since that 2010 season.

This past season, the Packers finished 3rd in the NFC North with 5 of their 6 losses occurring within the division (1-5). Their season ended with a 22-10 loss at Philadelphia in the Wild Card round.

The city of Green Bay will host the 2025 NFL Draft and the Packers pick 23rd. FanDuel's Austin Swain has them selecting Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke, but there are needs for an edge rusher on defense, and a go-to wide receiver to help a unit that performed by committee.

Here is a look at the Pack as they prepare for the NFL Draft and strive to make a deeper playoff run in the 2025-26 season.

Brian Kutekunst has been with Packers since 1999 and was involved in scouting for 16 years. He was moved up to Player Personnel Director in 2016 and ascended to the GM chair in 2018 when his predecessor, Ted Thompson, reduced his role for health reasons. Thompson later passed away from complications due to an autonomic disorder in early 2021 at age 68. He had served as the GM from 2005-2017.

At age 45, head coach Matt LaFleur will entering his seventh season as head coach. It's the longest amount of time he has spent anywhere. LaFleur came up through the college and professional ranks as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and his longest previous stint was a four-year stay with the Redskins from 2010-2013.

In Green Bay, LaFleur's first three teams each won 13 games and lost in the NFC Championship in 2019 and 2020. The club slipped to 8-9 in 2022 when Aaron Rodgers left, but has improved each of the last two seasons from a won-loss record perspective.

Overall, LaFleur has a solid regular season record of 67-33, but just a 3-5 mark in the playoffs.

Adam Stenavich came to Green Bay from the 49ers to serve as offensive line coach in 2019 and 2020 before adding run game coordinator to his duties. He was moved up to OC in 2022 when Nathaniel Hackett was hired to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos. (The Broncos fired Hackett after 15 games (4-11).

Under Stenavich, the Packers were 5th in total offense in 2024, 12th in passing and 5th in rushing. Those numbers were mostly improvements from 2023 when their rankings were 11th, 12th and 15th. Quarterbck Jordan Love is 11th on the list of 2025-26 NFL most valuable player odds, but leading rusher Josh Jacobs is only 42nd.

Jeff Hafley resigned as the head coach at Boston College (2020-2023) as one of many in recent years who quickly became disenchanted with the transfer portal and NIL at the college level. He had previous NFL experience in Tampa, Cleveland and San Francisco, His first season in Green Bay saw improvement from 17th to 5th in total defense. The pass defense slipped from 9th to 13, but the run defense improved dramatically from 28th to 7th.
