For the seventh consecutive week, Georgia collected all 52 first-place and remains a consensus No. 1 in the FWAA/NFF Super 16 College Football Poll, released Sunday. Alabama slips to third as Ohio State rockets from 5th to 2nd.
The Super 16 panel of voters is a collection of 52 FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced geographical perspective, and include CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove.
Clearly, the panel was impressed with Ohio State's shellacking of then-No. 6 Michigan State and not so much with Alabama's 42-35 win over Arkansas. The Spartans slumped to No. 12.
Meanwhile, Oregon was trounced 38-7 at un-ranked Utah and tumbled from 3rd to 11th. The loss caused the Ducks to fall from 3rd to 11th. The Utes (8-3) still did not enter the poll.
Cincinnati remains 4th, despite slapping SMU silly, 48-14, and only picked up 8 total points in the poll. Last week, the Bearcats trailed Oregon by 1 point, 679-678. This week, they trail Alabama by 37 points, 723-686.
Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Baylor all rose two spots with the Wolverines landing in the 5th spot, followed by the Irish, Cowboys, Rebels, Sooners and Bears.
On Tuesday evening, the College Football Playoff Committee will release its fourth set of rankings for the 2021 season.
The SEC and Big Ten have four teams each in the poll, followed by the Big 12 with three. Two independents are ranked, followed by one team apiece from the American, Conference USA and PAC-12h.
Congrove's ballot this week: 1) Georgia, 2) Ohio State, 3) Cincinnati, 4) Notre Dame, 5) Michigan, 6) ) Oklahoma State, 7) Oklahoma, 8) Michigan, 9), Ole Miss, 10) Wisconsin, 11) UTSA, 12) Houston, 13) Baylor, 14) Oregon, 15) Michigan State, 16) Utah.
