NFL Rankings of all 32 Teams

October 29, 2024 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

It should be no surprise that the only undefeated team in the league, the 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs, are topping the NFL Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com for the fourth straight week. And it should be equally expected that the Detroit Lions (6-1), the only one-loss club,  are No. 2 for the third week in-a-row.

Over the weekend, Kansas City handled business in Las Vegas with a 27-20 win at Allegiant Stadium as Travis Kelce had a monster day with 10 receptions for 90 yards and a TD.

The Chiefs just keep getting better under head coach Andy Reid, QB Patrick Homes, and Kelce as the 7-0 start marks the best opening to a season in their era. So far, the two-time defending Super Bowl Champs look good on their quest for a three-peat.

Kansas City opened as a 9.5-point favorite Tampa Bay at Arrowhead for next week's Monday night game. The computer comes in a little under that number at 6.97.

Detroit laid a 52-14 whipping on the visiting Tennessee Titans, easily topping the 12.5-point spread and the computer's projected  margin of  16.84 points. The game was tied at 14-all until the Lions went on a 21-0 run end the half. After the break, the third quarter was more of the same as Detroit won the quarter 17-0. No more scoring occurred after Jake Bates hit a 51-yard field goal with 1:08 to go in the third.  Bates is the kicker who broke out with his UFL showing in spring football when he hit three 60-yard-plus field goals for the Michigan Panthers.

Over-all, the computer picks were a not-too-impressive 10-6 in forecasting outright winners, but a solid 13-3 against the spread for its best performance of the season.

Buffalo moves up two spots in the rankings, from 5th to 3rd, after a solid 31-10 road win  over Seattle. It was one of three ATS misses for the computer which had the Bills winning, but under the 3-point spread. Josh Allen, the odds leader for MVP (+270), He was 24-for-34 for 283 yards with 2 touchdown passes and an interception against the Seahawks, and added net 25 yards rushing. James Cook rushed for two touchdowns as part of his 111-yard performance on 17 carries  that gave him an average of 6.5 yards per rush. He only had 341 yards for the season going into that game, but had 5 touchdowns.

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia round out the top five.

Daniel Jones is 0-8 on Monday Night Football after the Steelers beat the Giants 26-18 in a game that saw each team kick four field goals, and the Giants make a laughable attempt at a 2-point conversion. Compounding the situation, there was no need to go for two in the first place as a simple PAT kick would have cut the lead to 7.

Philadelphia was a 37-17 winner as Jalen Hurts threw for 3 scores and rushed for another. The win boosted the Eagles up three spots from No. 8 a week ago.

Green Bay inched up on notch with the 30-27 win at Jacksonville. The Jaguars had tied the game at 27-apiece with just 1:48 left on a 14-yard pass to Evan Engram from Trevor Lawrence, but the defense offered little resistance on Green Bay's subsequent drive that led to a 24-yard chip-shot walk-off field goal off the toe of Brian McManus, He has now kicked for the Packers for two weeks (signed October 17) and won both games on walk-offs.
