NCAA Basketball Conference Tourney Action Heats Up With 17 Men's and 14 Women's bids still to be decided

March madness continues this weekend with 17 automatic qualifier bids on the line for the 2024-25 NCAA men's basketball tournament. 14 of those champions have already been decided.

On the women's side, those numbers are flipped with 17 decided and 14 to be determined this weekend.

Five of the men's championship games will wrap up just minutes before the selection show begins on CBS on Sunday at 6 p.m. (eastern time).

Four will do so on the women's side.

The five men's championship games on Sunday will determine the winners of the American Athletic Conference at 3:15 on ESPNU, the Atlantic 10 at 1 p.m. on CBS, the B1G at 3:30 on CBS, and the Ivy League at Noon on ESPN2 and the SEC at 1:00 on ESPN.

The four women's championship games on Sunday are for all the marbles in the Coastal Athletic Association at 2 p.m. on CBSSN, the Missouri Valley Conference at 2 p.m. on ESPN2, and the Northeast Conference at Noon on CBSSN.

Other conference championship games will be staged as early as today (Friday).

ESPN has an all-ACC semifinal doubleheader tonight, beginning at 7:00 with 1-seed Duke vs. 5-seed North Carolina for the 265th time with the Tar Heels leading 145-119. The nightcap has 2-seed Louisville taking on 3-seed Clemson. The 4-seed, Wake Forest, was ousted by UNC in the quarterfinals which also was the Deacs first game of the tourney after the top four seeds earned a double-bye. Duke is a 7.5-point favorite tonight after winning both regular season games over North Carolina. UNC won both games last year.

The Duke women have already captured the women's tournament title after slaying 1-seed NC State, 76-62, this past Sunday. The Blue Devils also ousted 2-seed Notre Dame the previous afternoon. It's Duke's first ACC women's title since 2013. Either the Wolfpack or the Irish had won 9 of the previous 11, with Virginia Tech winning in 2023 and Louisville in 2018.

The American East women's championship game is at at 5 p.m. today on ESPN. That game will have Vermont visiting UAlbany in a rematch of the 2022-23 title game won by Vermont. Last year, Maine toppled Vermont for the title, so this is the third straight conference championship appearance for the Catamounts.

In the American Athletic Conference, the top four seeds play for the first time today after earning double byes. Full results, remaining schedule, and TV times can be found HERE. The first game starts at Noon with 1-seed Memphis facing 8-seed Wichita State on ESPN-2.

Double byes were also awarded in the Atlantic 10 to the top four seeds and they are all in action for the first time today. Full results, remaining schedule, and TV times can be found HERE. 1-seed VCU takes on St. Bonaventure at 11 a.m. on the USA Network.

The Big Ten quarterfinal round all plays out today on the Big Ten Network , starting at Noon with 8-seed Oregon battling 1-seed Michigan State at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The SEC quarterfinals begin at 1 with a double-header on ESPN. First up is 1-seed Auburn taking on 8-seed Ole Miss, followed by 4-seed Texas against 13-seed Tennessee. Again, the top four seeds had double byes.

The Big 12 semifinals are tonight on ESPN 2 with the top four seeds all advancing with wins on Thursday. 4-seed BYU and 1-seed Houston tipping off at 7, followed by 3-seed Arizona and 2-seed Texas Tech.
