Key Highlights From the Colorado Buffaloes' Most Exciting Games

July 18, 2024 by Staff

After the previous week's disappointment against Oregon, a 42-6 destruction of the Buffaloes, Deion Sanders and Colorado went into a matchup against Southern California with renewed determination and purpose.

USC quickly took control of this matchup as they took an early 21-0 lead in the opening quarter. But Shedeur Sanders managed to throw two touchdowns that kept Colorado within striking distance. (see No. 2 below to read how this game turned out).

With legalized sports betting on the rise, more and more people are taking part by placing bets during games - or "live betting", or in-game wagering - which has revolutionized how fans watch and engage with football games. While live betting may provide unique experiences for fans and the sport itself, its harmful side effects could threaten its long-term viability.

Live betting typically occurs during stoppages in play such as commercial breaks, timeouts and periods/innings/quarters changes. Players can place bets on more specific events during a game such as who will score next or total number of points scored in one quarter; odds will also fluctuate according to what's going on during gameplay - adding both excitement and pressure for making informed decisions during live bets.

Studies have revealed that betting on NFL games or cricket betting increases fan engagement and creates an immersive viewing experience, leading to deeper emotional ties between gamblers and teams they support. Unfortunately, however, these benefits come at the cost of greater engagement in game outcomes - increasing fan involvement increases their risk of going off track or gambling irresponsibly; it is therefore imperative for individuals gambling responsibly to seek professional help if they feel they have a gambling problem.

1. Colorado 45, TCU 42

In the long-awaited debut of Deion Sanders at Colorado, "Coach Prime" and his son, quarterback Shedeur, led the Buffaloes to an upset victory against No. 17 TCU 45-42 on opening weekend at Boulder. Shedeur Sanders passed for a school record 510 yards and four touchdowns, while freshman running back Dylan Edwards scored four times as part of Colorado's victory.

Two-way player Travis Hunter was on the field for 129 snaps and had 11 receptions for 119 yard. He also picked off a pass near the goal line for an incredible interception. Dylan Edwards had 5 catches for 135 yards and 3 scores to lead a brigade of 4 receivers to top the 100-yard mark, and he rushed 6 times for 24 yards and a TD.

2. USC 48, Colorado 41

In week 5 of the season, No. 6 USC refused to put away Colorado for good and nearly paid the ultimate price of a massive upset loss. Caleb Williams sixth TD pass put the Trojans up 48-21 with 2:14 to go in the 3rd. But Colorado rallied back with 20 unanswered points and an opportunity to force overtime until the onside kick was covered by USC.

After this game, the Colorado defense had allowed 133 points in three games.

Colorado had 564 yards and 32 first downs to USC's 498 and 26 first downs. Sanders threw for 371 yards and 4 TD's with 1 pick as he completed 30-of-45, passes. Williams countered with 6 TD throws and a pick while going 30-of-40 for 403 yards.

Coach Prime and Company were obviously hoping to get a win after being embarrassed the previous week in a 42-6 loss at Oregon in the PAC-12 opener.

3. Arizona 34, Colorado 31

Colorado fans erupted in cheers as star cornerback-receiver Travis Hunter ran onto the field wearing shorts and a sleeveless top, his first appearance since being sidelined due to a lacerated liver that he suffered after a cheap shot in the Colorado State contest in week 3. This was week 11.

But Hunter wasn't on the field and Colorado was outscored 17-7 in the second half, ultimately falling 34-31 as the Wildcats won the game on a 34-yard field goal as time expired.

4. Utah 23, Colorado 17

In its final PAC-12 game, Colorado fell at Utah with Shedeur Sanders on the sideline with multiple injuries he had endured over the season. Travis Hunter did play and caught an 18-yard pass midway through the final quarter to give Colorado a shot, but Utah ran out the final 7:25 of the game.

The school had announced before the season began that it would relocate to the Big 12, beginning with the 2024 fall sports season.
