Clemson won the ACC title with a 34-31 victory over SMU on a 56-yard walkoff field goal from Nolan Hauser. The Mustangs had just the tied game at 31-all with 16 seconds to play, erasing all of a 17-point 4th quarter deficit, but Adam Randall returned the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to his own 45-yard line and Cade Klubnik hit Antonio Williams for 17 yards to set the game-winning kick attempt which split the uprights with little room to spare.
Oregon won the B1G in its first season in the league by downing Penn State 45-37. In doing so, the Ducks secured the #1 seed in the new 12-team playoff and remained the only undefeated team (13-0) in the FBS.
Marshall had shockingly little trouble in a 31-3 romp at Louisiana to capture its first Sun Belt title as Braylon Braxton went 18-of-26 for 193 passing with 2 TD's, and Jordan Houston had 17 carries for 117 yards and a score.
Injured Georgia QB Carson Beck hadn't played the second half, but Gunner Stockton exited for 1 play after losing helmet on a hard hit. So Beck came into the game, injured right arm dangling at his side, and handed off to Trevor Etienne who, injured ribs and all, plowed in from 4 yards in OT and lifted the Bulldogs to a 22-19 win over Texas in the SEC Championship. Stockton was 12-of-16 for 71 yards, but also threw a pick that set up the game-tying drive for Texas in regulation.
Earlier on Saturday, Ohio (10-3) claimed the MAC Championship and Arizona State (11-2) won the Big 12. Three of the nine conference champions were decided on Friday night with Jax State (9-4), Army (11-1) and Boise State (12-1) all securing solid victories on their home turf.
Ohio rolled to a 38-3 win over Miami (O) in the MAC Championship in Detroit. It's the first MAC title for the Bobcats since 1968. They were previously 0-5 in MAC Championship games since that format began in 1997 with losses to Central Michigan in 2006 and 2009, NIU in 2011, Western Michigan in 2016, and Toledo in 2022.
Moments after that game concluded, Arizona State put the finishing touches on a 45-19 rout of Iowa State as the Sun Devils claim the crown in their first year in the league. ASU won outright PAC titles in 1986 and 1996 and shared the 2007 honors with USC.
Three of the nine conference champions were decided on Friday night with Jax State (9-4), Army (11-1) and Boise State (12-1) all securing solid victories on their home turf.
First, Jax State was a crushing 52-12 winner over Western Kentucky to claim the USA trophy.
Then, Army finished off a 35-14 rout of Tulane to capture its first-ever conference title by claiming the American Athletic Conference crown in its first year in the league.
Last, but certainly not least, Boise State punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff 12-team field with a 21-7 win over UNLV for the Mountain West title. For the Broncos, Heisman candidate Ashton Jeanty ran for 209 yards and a TD for his 8th game of 200 or more yards this season. Jeanty went into that contest with the second-best odds of winning the Heisman Trophy, well behind Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter. Of course, the odds don't have any direct correlation to the voting and the difference was narrowing quickly and considerably after the game.

FBS schools were 115-6 in FBS-FCS games this season, and are a cumulative 1,915-158 (.924) since we began tracking this in 2003.
In 2024, there were 121 matchups scheduled between FBS and FCS schools with 119 playing one such game, while Hawaii and UMass each play two.
15 schools were not scheduled to play a FCS opponent. Of those fifteen schools, 5 are in the B1G (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, USC and UCLA). Texas is the only school in the SEC that will not play a FCS program. The same is true for Virginia Tech in the ACC. In fact, Texas and Virginia Tech, along with Michigan and Houston, were repeats from the list of schools in 2023 that played all FBS programs.
