Alabama stays in the second spot, followed by Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Clemson.
NC State falls from 7th to 12th after the Wolfpack lost at Clemson, and No. 9 Minnesota slid to 18th after losing 20-10 at home to Purdue. That freed up space for Tennessee to inch up 7th and Ole Miss to take 8th.
Utah enters the top ten at No. 9. The Utes have reeled off 4 straight wins after an opening week upset loss at Florida when Utah was ranked 11th.
TCU rockets up the rankings with a 10-place surge from 20th to 10th after blasting Oklahoma 55-24.
Penn State lends off the second ten as the Nittany Lions remain frozen at No. 11.
Syracuse is 5-0 for the first time since 1987 and moves from 16th to 13, followed by Oregon and Mississippi State.
Maryland ascends from 23rd to 16th, Wake Forest moves up 8 spots from 25th to 17th, and Cincinnati also jumps 8 spots from 27th to 19th.
USC moves in to the computer rankings for the first time at No. 25 after beginning the year ranked 83rd.
The SEC has 4 of the top 8 spots, and 6 of the top 21. The Big Ten has 3 teams in the top 11 and 5 in the top 18. Each of those conferences have 2 of the top 4.
The Bottom Five this week is UMass at 5, Colorado State 4, Hawaii 3, FIU 2, and New Mexico State 1. The Aggies took the dubious distinction of being ranked 131 away from FIU by falling to the Golden Panthers 21-7 in Las Cruces.
