FBS Computer Rankings: Oregon Back In 1st, With Ohio State 2nd

Oddly enough, this week's top 3 teams revert back to where we were with the Week 4 rankings with Oregon at No. 1, Ohio State 2, and Texas 3.

The Longhorns drop from No. 1 after the 30-15 loss at home to Georgia, but stay ahead of the Bulldogs who move up one spot from 6th to 5th while Penn State stays 4th.

Rounding out the Top Ten are Miami, Notre Dame, Iowa State, Clemson and Ole Miss. The 'Canes and Cyclones both drop a spot, while the Tigers and Rebels each climb 1 spot, and the Irish move up 2 rungs on the ladder.

The new FBS Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com were released early Sunday morning after the completion of all of the games.

Ohio State, Penn State and Ole Miss were idle, while Miami won 52-45 at Louisville, Notre Dame was a 31-13 winner over Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Iowa State rallied for a 38-35 win at home UCF, and Clemson pulled away for a 48-30 win at home over Virginia.

The big loser in the rankings was Alabama which plummeted 9 spots from 8th to 17th after a 24-17 loss at Tennessee dropped the Tide to 5-2. The Vols move up 1 spot from 12th to 11th.

The big winner was Indiana which climbs 5 places from 19th to 13th after the 56-7 destruction of Nebraska in front the delighted home folks.

Texas was the only team to fall from the group of eleven schools that entered the week undefeated. Three of those eleven programs - Penn State, Pittsburgh and Liberty - were idle. The remaining unbeatens are Oregon, Penn State, Miami, Iowa State, Indiana, BYU, Pittsburgh, Army, Navy and Liberty.

Iowa drops from 19th from 30th after a 32-20 upset loss at Michigan State, while Michigan descends from 24 to 36 on the heels of a 21-7 loss to Illinois. Louisville also exits the Top 25 after the loss to Miami as the Cards fall from 25th to 35th.

The three teams taking their place are Navy, Wisconsin and Pittsburgh at Nos. 23 through 25.

The SEC easily leads all conferences by placing 8 teams among the Top 25. The B1G has 3 of the first four, but just 5 in the Top 25.

The ACC has 4, while the American and the Big 12 each have 3. The other two spots are taken by Boise State of the Mountain West and Independent Notre Dame.

The highest-ranked school from Conference USA is Liberty at No. 27, while Toledo leads all MAC teams at No. 46/

JMU still spaces the Sun Belt members at No. 54, two spots ahead of the Georgia Southern team that beat them 28-14 on Saturday in Statesboro.

Florida State has started all the way down to 101 after starting the season at No. 8. Last Friday night, the 'Noles lost 23-16 at Duke. It's the first-ever loss for FSU to the Blue Devils who are now 1-22 in the series.
