Fans Select New Logo for College Football Playoff

April 29, 2013 by Dave Congrove

Bill Hancock, the Executive Director of the College Football Playoff, today announced the winning logo for the new event, courtesy of fans who registered 101,670 votes on College Football Playoff's new website CollegeFootballPlayoff.com.

The winner was logo number two, the Gold Football, drawing 38 percent of the vote. Logos one, three, and four drew 24 percent, 25 percent, and 13 percent, respectively.

The new logo, like the new playoff system, is sure to draw strong criticism. Message boards have been flooded with comments bashing all four options that were submitted for fan voting, but don't bet that any criticism will lead to any actions of improvement.

The deaf ears were evident when Hancock was quoted in the press release as saying, "College football's post-season is moving in a new direction and our logo will change with it. The Gold Football design is a sharp and polished look that will represent the new system nicely. Like our new name, it's direct and gets right to the point."

We can only hope that Hancock was correct when he added that, "With 611 days left until the first playoff game of the new era, this is a very exciting time for college football."
