Clemson widened its lead in the lead over Alabama in the Super 16 Poll by picking up 2 more first-place votes. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
The top seven teams in the poll remained the same from the preseason poll.
Clemson garnered 35 of the available 46 first-place votes while Alabama snagged 7. LSU kept its 2 first-place votes, while Georgia and Oklahoma each received one vote for the top spot.
Alabama went wire-to-wire at No. 1 in last year's poll before losing to Clemson in the national champion ship game.
After losing to Auburn in Arlington, Texas, Oregon dropped out of the poll and was replaced by Wisconsin at No. 16. Auburn moved from No. 16 to No.10 with the victory over the Ducks.
The SEC (six) and Big Ten (4) dominated the poll with 10 teams. The Big 12 and Pac-12 had two each. The ACC and Independents one each.

Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2019 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
