The 32 clubs have been very busy in the so-called 'offseason'. Not only are they preparing for the 2025 National Football League draft in late April, but they've also been working to secure their valued existing staff and front office employees, or filling positions.
Here is a look at who is in each position as General Manager, Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator and Offensive Coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons.
2024 Record: 8-9 (3-3 NFC West, 3rd place)
Odds to reach 2025 Super Bowl: +5500, tied for 19th-best
General Manager: Monti Ossenfort (2023)
Head Coach: Jonathan Gannon (2023)
Offensive Coordinator: Drew Petzing (2023)
Defensive Coordinator: Nick Rallis (2023)
The general manager and head coach, as well as the offensive and defensive coordinators, will all be starting year number three in 2025.
Though he's only 46 years old, general manager Monti Ossenfort has developed an extensive resume, beginning with internships at Minnesota and Houston for a year each in 2001 and 2002. He later had fourteen years with the New England Patriots organizations from 2006 to 2019, advancing from scouting assistant to head of the department. This is his first job as the general manager and, perhaps, that contributed to him hiring Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as the new head coach two days after the Eagles lost the Super Bowl. away from the Eagles, which is tampering under league rules. Five days later, Drew Petzing was brought in to take over the offense after serving as the QB coach at Cleveland the previous season. Nick Rallis joined Gannon in the movie from the Eagles, where he was linebackers coach, to become the defensive coordinator.
The team improved from 4-12 in year one to 8-9 this past season was the 4th-best in the league, behind the Commanders, Vikings and Chargers.
However, the Futures Betting odds don't spell out a tremendous jump up in 2025 with the Cardinals tying for 19th-best odds to reach the Super Bowl and, unless they are able to trade up, they will have to wait until the 16th pick of the 2025 NFL draft to make their first selection..
The Cardinals were only 4-8 versus the rest of the National Conference while going 4-1 vs. the AFC as they lost to Buffalo in the season opener before defeating the Los Angeles Chargers by 2, knocking off the Miami Dolphins by 1, whipping the Jets by 25, and taking down New England by 13.
Arizona ranked 11th in total offense in 2024, but was 18th in passing while finishing 7th in rushing. On the defensive side of the ball, the Cards ranked 21st over-all, 14th in stopping the pass and 20th against the run.
James Conner was rated 5-best by PFF and returns at running back after a season in which he set a personal best in rushing yardage (1,094). Seven of the top eight running backs, and eight of the top ten, were in the NFC.
2024 Record: 8-9 (2-4 NFC South, 3rd place)
Odds to reach 2025 Super Bowl: +5500, tied for 19th-best
General Manager: Terry Fontenot (since 2021)
Head Coach: Raheem Morris returns for year 2.
Offensive Coordinator: Zac Robinson (since 2024)
Defensive Coordinator: Jeff Ulbrich (New)
Morris is 29-47 in his career as a head coach that involves 3 seasons at Tampa Bay from 2009-2011 (17-31), 1 season in Atlanta in 2024 (8-9) and another season with the Falcons as interim head coach in 2020 (4-7). His teams have never made the playoffs in five seasons with him at the helm.
Under Robinson, the Falcons ranked 6th in total offense in 2024. That's an 11-spot improvement over the 2023 season.
The franchise welcomes back Jeff Ulbrich as defensive coordinator after he primarily served as the linebackers coach from 2015-2020 before moving to the Jets for four seasons. He was elevated to interim head coach for the final 12 games of the 2024 season (3-9). The Jets had the NFL's 3rd-best overall defense in 2024.
Bijan Robinson was the No. 2 graded running back for 2024, according to PFF. He ranked only behind Derrick Henry of Baltimore.
