The Big Ten today released its college football game after the conference voted unanimously earlier in the week to play this fall with an October 24 start date.
The conference championship game will take place December 19 in Indianapolis. On that same weekend, the remaining teams will play crossover conference games against equal seeds, i.e. 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc., so that every team gets 9 games.
The Big Ten's involvement raises the total number of teams playing this fall to 91 of 130 in the FBS.
CollegeFootballPoll.com will release a NEW CONGROVE COMPUTER RANKINGS PRESEASON PROJECTION of the TOP 91 this coming week (CCR TOP 91). We will then begin issuing a weekly Top 91 the following week (Sunday, September 27).
The preseason ranking will be compiled as though every team is still 0-0 in the W-L column. Dave Congrove, creator of the poll, said, "I have to compare oranges to oranges and apples to apples so the new preseason rankings will be compiled as if no games have taken place. Of course, the weekly updates will continue to factor-in all of the game resutls."
Congrove added, "When the PAC-12 releases its fall schedule, I'll do the same thing all over again."
