NOTE: CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove is among the voters.
Alabama stands one week away from going wire-to-wire as No. 1 in the 2018 poll after defeating Auburn and wrapping up a 12-0 regular season. Clemson and Notre Dame also finished perfect 12-0 regular seasons and remained Nos. 2-3, respectively.
After a decisive road loss at Ohio State, Michigan dropped from No. 4 to No. 8. Ohio State moved from No. 10 to No. 6. And both Georgia and Oklahoma moved up a slot to occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Undefeated UCF kept on rolling, jumping two spots to No. 7. LSU was No. 8 a week ago, but fell four spots to No. 12 after its epic seven-overtime loss at Texas A&M.
In the bottom half of the poll, there was reshuffling of seven teams, with only Utah State falling out after losing to Boise State. Kentucky replaced the Aggies in the poll.
The SEC led all leagues with five teams. The Big Ten and Big 12 had three each. The Pac-12 had two. And the ACC, American and Independents one each.

The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Monday of the 2018 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
