NOTE: CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove is among the voters.
Top-ranked Alabama, after dominating LSU in Baton Rouge, 29-0, received all 51 first place votes for the first time this season in the new FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll released today. The poll is voted on by a panel of football writers and college football Hall Of Fame members.
Clemson and Notre Dame stayed put in the Nos. 2-3 slots while LSU fell from fourth to 10th in the latest poll. Otherwise, it was fairly quiet among the first 10 teams.
Michigan moved up one spot to fourth after easily beating Penn State. West Virginia and Washington State won, enhancing their poll positions. Penn State, Florida and Utah dropped out after suffering losses, and they were replaced by Syracuse, Mississippi State and Boston College. Syracuse and Boston College join the poll for the first time this season while Mississippi State last appeared in Week 3.
The SEC led all conferences with five teams. The ACC and Big 12 had three each. The Big Ten had two, and the American, Pac-12 and Independents one each.
For the second straight week, every ranked team will see action. No. 14 Mississippi State at No. 1 Alabama; No. 2 Clemson at No. 16 Boston College; Florida State at No. 3 Notre Dame; No. 4 Michigan at Rutgers; Auburn at No. 5 Georgia; Oklahoma State at No. 6 Oklahoma; TCU at No. 7 West Virginia; No. 8 Ohio State at Michigan State; No. 9 Washington State at Colorado; No. 10 LSU at Arkansas; Navy at No. 11 UCF; No. 12 Kentucky at Tennessee; Louisville at No. 13 Syracuse (Friday); No. 15 Texas at Texas Tech.

The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Monday of the 2018 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
