October 8, 2023 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff and AFCA.com

After Texas erased a 10-point deficit and took a 30-27 lead with 1:17 left to go in the Red River Rivalry, Oklahoma marched down the field and Dillon Gabriel hit Nic Anderson with a three-yard touchdown pass to give the Sooners a 34-30 victory. The win moved Oklahoma up to No. 7 in this week’s Coaches Poll while Texas dropped to No. 11.

The poll is sponsored by US LBM, which is the largest privately owned, full-line distributor of specialty building materials in the United States.

Georgia remains No. 1 with 61 of the possible 64 first-place votes while Ohio State garnered 2 and Washington 1.

Notre Dame fell from 11 to 21 after a 33-20 loss at Louisville as the Cardinals rose from 25 to 15.
