The college football bowl season begins on Monday afternoon in Conway, South Carolina with the first Myrtle Beach Bowl. That game, and six other postseason events that will all be played by December 26, have their matchups in place.
The Frisco Bowl would have kicked off the bowl season on Saturday with SMU and UTSA, but SMU had to back out due to Covid issues. Given the time constraints of finding a n replacement team for the Mustangs, the game was canceled and the Servpro First Responder Bowl accepted UTSA for an opponent yet to be named.
The Famous Idaho Potato, Boca Raton, New Orleans, Lending Tree, Montgomery, and New Mexico bowls have both of their teams locked in.
The Independence Bowl extended an invitation to Army long ago, but has not yet cemented the second team.
So far, 4 of the 16 teams that have accepted bids have records that are no better than .500.
