CollegeFootballPoll.com's 14th annual College Football All-America team honors 25 top players representing 21 different teams, 7 different conferences and the group of Independents. One player is selected for each position on an 11-man offensive roster, an 11-man defensive roster, plus three special team members (kicker, punter, return specialist).
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker heads the offense selections. Hooker, who played nearly 11 full games before suffering a season-ending knee injury at South Carolina, completed 69.6% of his passes for 3,135 yards, 27 TD's and just 2 INT's. He also ran for 435 yards and 5 more TD's. In back-to-back games, Hooker orchestrated a 40-13 blowout at LSU, and a scintillating 52-49 win over Alabama. He completed at least 71% of his passes in 7 games and provided at least 405 yards of total offense in 3 games.
If the All-American offensive team took the field, Hooker would hand off to Michigan's Blake Corum and Minnesota's Mohamed Ibrahim, and throw to his own WR Jalin Hyatt, Iowa State WR Xavier Hutchinson, and TE Dalton Kincaid of Utah.
Michigan's Corum met a similar injury fate as Hooker on the same Saturday.
Ibrahim had 19 straight games of at least 102 yards rushing before the streak ended in the season finale win at Wisconsin.
Wide receiver Hyatt (Biletnikoff winner) had 15 touchdowns and an 18.91-yard per catch average on 67 receptions for 1,267 yards at a clip of 105.6 yards per game.
Meanwhile, Hutchinson starred on a team with very little offense but still managed to post 1,171 yards and 6 TD's while averaging 97.6 yards per game.
Kincaid led all tight ends with 70 catches and 8 TD's.
Will Anderson, Jr. of Alabama repeats as a CollegeFootballPoll.com All-American, joining Felix Anudike-Uzomah of Kansas State. Anderson cleaned up the individual awards for 2022, taking home the Bednarik, Nagurski and Lombardi awards.
A pair of record-setting kickers highlight the special teams with Ray Guy winner Adam Korsak of Rutgers and Lou Groza winner Christopher Dunn of NC State joining return man Johnnie Lang of Arkansas State who led the nation in number of kick-off returns (37) and yards (886) with 1 TD. Lang succeeded Alan Lamar, the 2021 leader who had 55 KO returns and 1,333 yards with 2 TD"s for the same school.
Only 4 teams had more than one selection - Ohio State, Tennessee, NC State and Utah.
CollegeFootballPoll.com is proud to present this roster of All-Americans for 2022.
