It is essentially the halfway point of the season and only 13 teams remain undefeated in the quest for a Final 4 playoff spot. Of those 13 teams, all but Penn State sees action this week and a check on the College Football betting odds for Week 7 lists only Navy as an underdog.
Eight of the 12 unbeaten teams seeing action are double-digit favorites by 14-1/2 or more.
Using the Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com as a guide, top-ranked Alabama and 3rd-ranked Clemson are among the heaviest of favorites. The Crimson Tide is getting 30 at home over Arkansas, and the Tigers 22-1/2 at home versus Syracuse.
Idle Penn State is ranked 2nd by he computer.
4th-ranked Wisconsin and 5th-ranked Washington, along with No. 6 Georgia are expected to see little resistance from their respective outmanned opposition. The Badgers host an improved, yet less talented Purdue team; the Huskies visit a 2-3 Arizona State squad, and the Bulldogs get a Missouri team that is ranked 108th and has lost last 9 of its last 11 FBS games.
No. 8 Washington State, which is 6-0 after last week's dominating 33-10 win at Oregon, visits spiraling Cal which has lost 3 straight after a 3-0 start.
11th-ranked USF is favored by more than 3 touchdowns over visiting Cincinnati, and the Bulls' 19th-ranked neighbors at UCF are a 5-touchdown favorite at home versus woeful East Carolina.
Three undefeated teams have tough games to get past, in addition to 21st-ranked Navy's slight underdog status at Memphis.
9th-ranked Miami and No. 18 San Diego State are single touchdown home favorites over Georgia Tech and Boise State, respectively, while 10th-ranked TCU is only a 4-1/2-point road favorite against Kansas State.
Unless upset fever breaks out, the list of teams with perfect records should see few, if any, setbacks this week.
