The win elevates the Bobcats from 5th to 3rd, while South Dakota drops from 1st to 2nd.
South Dakota State thumped Youngstown State, 63-13, in Brookings earlier in the day, while South Dakota rolled 42-17 at home over Northern Iowa.
Going into their game in Bozeman, Montana State was ranked 5th and Idaho 6th, but the game was never as close as the two teams' ranking.
Delaware and North Dakota State both slide down 1 spot, even though the Blue Hens were 44-21 winners at home over Maine, while the Bison took a 24-3 win at Southern Illinois.
UC Davis, a 56-10 winner at home over Cal Poly, jumps four spots to No. 6.
Missouri State crushed Illinois State 41-7 on the road to rise from 17th to 9th, while the Redbirds plummet from 14th to 35th.
