A 60-game schedule in the FCS kicks off on Friday with the Ivy League Game of the Week when Princeton visits Harvard.
Also on Friday, 124th-ranked LIU takes on 126th-ranked Wagner as the homestanding Seahawks look to put an end to three of their four streaks of futility. Wagner has the current FCS longest streaks in consecutive games lost over-all (26), conference games lost (16) and home games lost (12). The Seahawks will have to wait until next week to try to halt their current FCS longest road losing streak at 17.
A total of 24 teams have a bye week, and only 1 plays outside the FCS as UT-Martin has the dubious task of taking on Tennessee in Knoxville. The only other meeting between those schools occurred in 2010 with the Vols prevailing 50-0 at home.
These six FCS teams will put their undefeated season on the line on Saturday:
No. 1 Jackson State (6-0, 3-0 SWAC) - The Congrove Computer Rankings' newly-minted No. 1 team hosts No. 41 Campbell (4-2, 2-0 Big South) as an 18.94-point computer favorite.
No. 2 Sacramento State (6-0, 3-0 Big Sky) - The Hornets will host No. 8 Montana (5-1, 2-1 Big Sky) a week after their conference counterpart was knocked off the No. 1 perch as a result of a 30-23 upset home loss to Idaho. The Griz enter this game ranked 8th.
No. 3 Weber State (6-0, 3-0 Big Sky) - The Wildcats are yet another highly-ranked Big Sky team, but their ranking is in jeopardy this week as they travel to No. 6. Montana State (6-1, 4-0). The computer favors the Bobcats by 3.86.
No. 4 Holy Cross (6-0, 2-0 Patriot) - The Crusaders are heavily favored by 19.03 points on their journey to No. 89 Lafayette (2-4, 1-0 Patriot).
No. 9 Princeton (5-0, 2-0 Ivy League) - With first place on the line in the Ivy League, the Tigers head to No. 19 Harvard (4-1, 2-0) as micro-thin 0.57-point favorites. Lately, the Tigers and Crimson have had a knack of pushing the game into extra periods with 3 of the last 5 going to overtime. Last year's contest at Princeton took 5 extra periods to be determined with the Tigers ultimately coming out on top 18-16. That was their fourth straight win in the series and extended their lead to 58-48-7. Harvard won the previous 3, and 8-of-10, prior to the current Princeton run.
No. 14 Penn (5-0, 2-0 Ivy League) - In another showdown for first place in the conference, the Quakers are 4.02-point favorites at home over No. 29 Yale (4-1, 2-0).
A week after a huge 23-21 win at North Dakota State, No. 6 South Dakota State has another big MVFC battle to attend to when the Jackrabbits cross their northern border again to face North Dakota. SDSU (6-1, 4-0) gets an 11.50-point edge from the computer over the No. 31 Fighting Hawks (4-2, 3-2).
No. 7 Mercer visits No. 13 Chattanooga in a SoCon battle. The Bears and Mocs join Samford as the only teams with unblemished conference marks. The computer has Mercer as a 5.01-point road favorite while Samford goes to ETSU as a 3.09-point computer underdog.
There will be 118 FBS vs. FCS matchups this season with App State, Army and Marshall each playing two such games, and 115 other FBS schools playing one apiece.
One of this season's final 6 FBS-FCS matchups takes place on Saturday with UT-Martin visiting Tennessee.
The FBS is 104-8 this year, and 1,678-148 (.919) since we began tracking this in 2003.
