North Dakota State survived its trip to East Tennessee State (ETSU) as the Bison overcame a 35-23 deficit by scoring 13 points in the final 1 minute, 59 seconds. After Cam Miller tossed a 38-yard pass to John Gores to the Buccaneers' 3-yard line, TK Marshall scored on a 3-yard run. The rarely recovered onside kick then worked successfully and Miller needed just 6 plays to cover 51 yards and put his team in front on his own 11-yard run. A two-point conversion pass was added to make it 38-35 with 50 seconds left in the game. ETSU quarterback Jaylen King was intercepted on the last drive with 17 seconds remaining.
A week ago, three FCS teams scored road upsets of FBS squads. Those were Idaho, St. Francis (PA), and Southern Utah. This week, two of those teams fell at home to fellow FCS members as St. Francis dropped a 27-20 decision to CCSU, and Southern Utah bowed 24-21 to UC Davis. Idaho was also home, but took care of business with a convincing 41-13 vandalizing of Albany. Idaho entered the weekend ranked 5th in the AFCA Coaches' Poll, as well as the FCS Congrove Computer Rankings. Albany was 15th in the Coaches' Poll, but just No. 28 in the computer rankings.
Other Top 25 matchups saw No. 11 Sacramento State run over visiting No. 23 Nicholls State 34-7, and No. 24 Mercer win 10-3 at 16th-ranked Chattanooga 10-3.
The South Dakota-Portland game was canceled just hours before kick-off, even though concerns arose at least two days prior, due to a possible outbreak of whooping cough among the Vikings' program. Whooping cough is the common name used for Pertussis, a highly contagious illness that can affect the lungs.Team doctors from both sides decided cancellation of the game was the best prevention from for further spreading the disease. It is not know if an effort will be made to make up the game, though it seems unlikely. The Coyotes entered the weekend ranked 6th in the AFCA Coaches' Poll and 4th in the Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com.

A 54-yard walk-off field goal gave Abilene Christian a wild 24-22 win at Northern Colorado. The Ritse Vaes kick came 1 minute and 10 seconds after the Bears had taken the lead on a 3-yard TD run, but the 2-point conversion try failed and left the door open for the Wildcats.

The two schools have played 61 times dating back to 1931, but not since 2004, and the Jackrabbits have a 44-15-2 lead in the series over the Sioux Falls school.
Lamar, as the computer projected, was a 17-16 upset winner at home over 10.5-point favorite Weber State. The Wildcats inexplicably eschewed a short field goal attempt that could have put them ahead with two minutes left. Instead, they tried to go for the touchdown and came up a half-yard short. Weber entered the week rank No. 25, but fell to 1-2 with the loss. The Cardinals improved to 2-1 and the lone loss was just a 7-point setback on opening weekend when they fell 34-27 at a very strong Texas State FBS squad.
No. 4 Villanova, a 19.5-point favorite, survived a visit from Towson by pulling out a 14-13 win. The Tigers missed two field goals in the final 1:13, the first from 48 yards and, after Villanova fumbled on 2nd down, they missed again from 37 yards as time expired.
