North Dakota State and James Madison continue to be ranked 1-2 in the new Congrove Computer Rankings, released late Sunday night. The Bison and Dukes lead Monmouth, Kennesaw State and Villanova in the top 5.
Monmouth has still yet to play a game, but opens this Saturday at Robert Morris. Villanova opened this pass Saturday with a 16-13 win over Stony Brook.
Meanwhile, North Dakota State rebounded from a 38-14 loss at Southern Illinois last weekend to defeat Missouri State 25-0 in Springfield; James Madison eked-out a 20-17 win at Elon; and Kennesaw State was idle.
There are two items of note that affect changes in this week's rankings:
The rest of the top ten this week finds Montana at no. 6, followed by Albany, Northern Iowa, Weber State and North Dakota.
Montana moves up to 6th from 13th, solely on the strength of schedule improvement by adding Portland State to the slate. The only other game the Grizzlies currently have scheduled is against D2 Central Washington. Portland State has no other games scheduled at this time.
Albany opened with a 24-20 win at New Hampshire, Northern Iowa as a 20-10 winner over Illinois State, Weber State had its game canceled by Cal Poly due to Covid issues, and North Dakota improved to 3-0 with a 21-10 win over South Dakota.
