A trio of top ten teams fell over the weekend, opening the door for Portland State, South Dakota State and Sam Houston State to move up in the latest Congrove Computer Rankings, released after the conclusion of Sunday's last game.
5th-ranked Villanova, 7th-ranked Albany and No. 8 Northern Iowa were among the 11 upset victims in Saturday's game. The Wildcats lost 40-37 in OT to Rhode Island, the Great Danes were tamed 35-34 at Maine, and the Panthers fell 17-16 at Southern Illinois.
Meanwhile, South Dakota State edged Youngstown State 19-17 to advance from 11th to 9th, and Sam Houston State crushed then-No. 13 Nicholls State 71-17 to leap from 16th to 10th. See the Real Money guide for online casinos.
North Dakota State and James Madison remain in the top two spots. The Bison were 21-13 winners over Illinois State while James Madison's game vs. William & Mary, as well as Monmouth openers vs. Robert Morris, were postponed due to coronavirus issues. James Madison sits atop the FCS STATS media poll.
Kennesaw State stays 4th after downing Charleston Southern 24-19, and Montana sits at No. 5 even though the Griz have yet to take field and won't until they host D2 Central Washington on April 10. Montana's only other scheduled game is the following week vs. Portland State, and the game against the Vikings is PSU's only scheduled game, thus far. Nonetheless, Portland State checks in at No. 8.
This week's 6th- and 7th-ranked teams are Weber State and North Dakota. The Wildcats were 18-13 winners at home versus UC Davis while the Fighting Hawks pulled away from Western Illinois 38-21. (casinos deutschland).
Richmond rose from 14th to 11th this week on the heels of a 38-14 triumph over Elon. The Spiders are followed by San Diego which won 13-10 at Drake. Southern Illinois moves up from 18 to 13 after the win over Northern Iowa. Meanwhile, Jacksonville State's 37-20 win at Tennessee-Martin pushed the Gamecocks up 5 spots to 14th.
Delaware crushed a second straight opponent. After blanking Maine 37-0 a week ago, the Blue Hens blasted Stony Brook 31-3. Over the last two weeks, Delaware has moved up from 29th to 15th.
Austin Peay continues its ascension in the ranks, moving up six spots to No. 16 after a 49-42 win in double-overtime at Southeast Missouri State. Trailing the Governors at Nos. 17 through 20 are Chattanooga (up 6 spots) and the aforementioned trio of upset losers from Saturday - Northern Iowa, Villanova and Albany, Chattanooga was idle this week.
Missouri Valley Football Conference teams own three of the top nine slots, and occupy five of the top eighteen positions. The CAA has five schools in the top twenty, and nine of the top thirty-three.
All but five of the ninety-four FCS teams playing football this spring have at least one game under their belt. Monmouth, Bucknell and Fordham join Montana and Portland State as the teams that have yet to take a snap.
The Congrove Computer Rankings have been assessing FBS teams since 1993 and are a recognized national champion selector by the NCAA. This is the first year that Congrove has ranked FCS schools and a season preview for the fall schedule is already in the works.
