Ten of the 130 FCS members opened their 2022 season in 'Week Zero'. For everybody else except Lindenwood and the eight Ivy League members, the fun begins over the Labor Day holiday. Two teams that opened this past Saturday are also idle - Idaho State and Morehead State.
Of the 119 FCS schools seeing action, 37 will face a FBS program and all but one will be the underdog. The Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com have a very rare situation where an FCS team is actually favored on the road against a FBS program as Bryant gets a 3.75-point edge at FIU in Miami on Thursday.
Another 9 FSC schools will play a D2 opponent, while San Diego will open against D3 member La Verne, and 4 other schools will face program from the NAIA ranks.
There are 34 head-to-head matchups between FCS programs in the Congrove Computer Rankings.
Two of the three new programs in the FCS, Texas A&M Commerce and Stonehill, will be in action this week. The third, Lindenwood, will open next week.
