FCS Computer Rankings - Bison Blasted, Vandals Fall To Griz

October 15, 2023 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

North Dakota did a 49-24 number on North Dakota State on Saturday, the likes of which we just do not commonly see. The Fighting Hawks ended a five-game losing streak to the Bison while scoring the most points allowed by NDSU since the school moved up to Division I FCS. The home crowd was worked into a frenzy early when Luke Skokna returned the opening kickoff 100 yards. The visitors would tie it at 7, but North Dakota took the lead for good at the 5:28 mark of the first quarter and went on a 42-10 run to stretch the advantage to 49-17 with 7:18 to play in the game.

The victory lifted North Dakota from 15th to 9th in the FCS version of the Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com, while NDSU fell from 3rd to 13th.

Meanwhile, Idaho hosted Montana and got grizzed, 23-21. A sold out Kibbie Dome saw an exciting end as the Vandals came up just a little short in rallying for the win. The win jumped Montana from 8th to 4th, while Idaho was knocked down from 5th to 17th.

South Dakota State is locked into 1st place for another week after a 41-6 home win over Northern Iowa.

Montana State stays second after a 59-19 whipping of Cal Poly. The Bobcats and Jackrabbits faced-off in Brookings on September 9 with SDSU prevailing 20-16.

Furman moves into 3rd after a 27-21 win at always dangerous Samford.

Idle Western Carolina was a big benefactor of the losses by North Dakota State and Idaho as the Catamounts jump from 7th to 5th,

Harvard rocketed up 10 places, from 21st to 11th, after a 48-7 home rout of Howard.

South Dakota was a 34-31 home winner over Youngstown State in a battle of Top 25 teams. The Coyotes move up from 13th to 12th while the Penguins slip from 12th to 24th.
