Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) 2024 Football Schedules

June 10, 2024 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

The Coastal Athletic Association gains one new member in 2024 as Bryant moves from the Big South where the Bulldogs spent just two seasons. The CAA loses Delaware which will compete as a FCS independent without eligibility for the FCS Championship.

Bryant left the Northeast Conference (NEC) to join the Big South before the 2022 season.

The Blue Hens are moving to the FBS in 2025 as a member of Conference USA. (Missouri State will be leaving the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2025, as well, and also joining Conference USA).

Last season, Jacksonville State and Sam Houston both joined Conference USA when they moved over from the FCS. In fact, Jax State had tremendous success in its first FBS season, going 9-4 and winning the New Orleans Bowl in overtime 34-31 over Louisiana.

Kennesaw State moves from the FBS and Conference USA this year.

Additionally, Richmond announced in May that it will exit the CAA and join the Patriot League in 2025 for football only.

CAA schools, like all other FCS schools, normally play an 11-game schedule, but because there is an extra week on the calendar from start to finish of the 2024, 2025 and 2030 seasons, FCS schools will be permitted to play a 12-game slate or schedule an extra BYE week.

All but Delaware opted to play a 12th game.

The 2024 season kicks off with a handful of Week Zero games on September 24, including Florida State vs. Notre Dame in Ireland, and SMU at Nevada.

Games involving FCS schools in week zero send Delaware State to Hawaii, and Montana State to New Mexico for a pair of FCS at FBS contests. Three other games will pit FCS schools against each other as Tarleton State hosts McNeese, SEMO entertains North Alabama in Montgomery, Alabama's Crampton Bowl Stadium for the 10th Annual FCS Kick-Off, and Norfolk State faces Florida A&M in Atlanta for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge.

None of the CAA schools open until the long Labor Day Weekend which is the official Week 1 of the regular season.
