Notre Dame broke away late for a 29-16 win over Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

The Scarlet Knights dropped to 6-7 with the loss while the Irish finished the season 9-4.

The score was tied at 13 at halftime and it was still a 3-point game at 19-16 in favor of Notre Dame after a 47-yard Rutgers field goal with 8:57 left to play. But the ensuing Notre Dame possession was a 10-play, 79-yard drive that culminated in a 3-yard touchdown run and the Irish added a field goal just 1:10 later after Rutgers QB Chase Dodd was intercepted on the next play.

Notre Dame ended a 2-bowl losing streak by notching just its 3rd bowl win in the last 14 tries.

The Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com projected Notre Dame to win by 17.80 points.
