Fumble Return Lifts Kentucky Over East Carolina
by Mike Mitchell December 20, 2008
285-pound defensive tackle Ventrell Jenkins lumbered 56 yards with a recovered fumble to score the game-winning touchdown with 3:02 left in the game as Kentucky rallied for a 25-19 win over East Carolina in the Liberty Bowl.
The Wildcats trailed 16-3 at halftime but David Jones returned the second half kickoff 99 yards to begin the comeback.
Lones Seiber's PAT's were blocked after each of those scores, but he made two field goals from 21 and 34 yards to help his team's cause. The latter tied it at 19-apiece with 14:07 to go in the game.
ECU's Ben Hartman also had a PAT blocked.
It was Kentucky's third consecutive bowl win. |
